Chris Barsanti notes that a new report from the Institute for Policy Studies “shows that the 50 US chief executives who laid off the most workers between November 2008 and April 2010 eliminated over 531,000 jobs and received a total of nearly $600 million in compensation…. [B]ack in the 1970s the average pay ratio from CEO to employee was about 30-to-1. As of last year, CEOs earned 263 times more than the average worker.”
